A concert by Hungarian artists of the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra, founded by Ádám Fischer, on the occasion of the inauguration of the renovated Rumbach Sebestyén Street Synagogue. The online premiere of the show will take place on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 8 pm, and the performance will remain available online for another two weeks, that is, until June 28th.

This special classical music concert will prepare our souls for the inauguration of the beautifully renovated Rumbach Sebestyén Street Synagogue, one of the special features of which will be the works of the modern Israeli composer Marc Lavry, who is rarely heard in Hungary. Then, well-known pieces of European classical music will lead to one of the most important prayers in the Jewish tradition, Kol Nidre.

Program: Marc Lavry: Two Jewish Dances (with violinist Orsolya Korcsolán); A. Vivaldi: Concerto for Oboe, Flute, Bassoon in G minor; A. Vivaldi: “Laudate pueri Dominum” – Psalm 112 (with singer Andrea Csereklyei); J. S. Bach: Brandenburg Concerto No. 4; M. Bruch: Kol Nidre (with violinist Orsolya Korcsolán).

Soloists: Andrea Csereklyei – soprano; Éva Mihályi – violin; Imre Kovács – flute; Kozár Melinda – oboe; Orsolya Korcsolán – violin; Varga Fruzsina – flute; György Olajos – bassoon.

Baroque and jewish melodies in the Rumbach synagogue PREMIER

 Concert of the Sabbathsong Klezmer Band on the occasion of the inauguration of the renovated Rumbach Sebestyén Street Synagogue. The online premiere of the show will take place on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at 8pm, and the show will remain available online for another two weeks, that is, until June 27th.

Don’t miss it, as, the 11-member Sabbathsong Klezmer Band, one of Hungary’s best-known Klezmer ensembles, performs with such outstanding artists as Ferenc “Fegya” Jávori, Gergő Oláh, cymbalon artist Jenő Lisztes, cellist Áron Petrus Bölöni and the Kinneret Chamber Choir.

True to their slogan, the program will be very diverse: Hebrew and Yiddish songs, Mizrachi melodies, and we can also hear excerpts from the musical ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. Anita Masa, the band’s versatile, wonderful singer, also sings the famous Avinu Malkeinu, a song made hugely popular by Barbra Streisand, within the walls of the magnificent Rumbach Synagogue.
