Online premieres: RumbachOpen klezmer and baroque melodies in the Rumbach Synagogue
Life begins in the renovated Rumbach Sebestyén Street Synagogue, which has undergone a rather astonishing transformation: the building, which had been in a state of disrepair for many years, has been restored inside and out in its original splendor. Now it looks exactly as the great Viennese architect Otto Wagner dreamed it more than 150 years ago: its stunning interior re-elevates it to one of the most beautiful synagogues in the world.
Through the renovation, Rumbach has become one of the most special and beautiful community facilities in Hungary and Central and Eastern Europe – in the spirit of this, community work begins under the famous motto of the former Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth, the late Lord Jonathan Sacks z”l: “God has given us many faiths but only one world in which to co-exist”.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the Rumbach Synagogue on June 10, we offer special cultural events in the online space.
